This moderate hike takes place in Highland Park — one of the City of Pittsburgh’s Big Four (Schenley, Frick, Highland and Riverview. The park features the Highland Reservoir, which is near the start/end of this loop and can be viewed from the outside, as well as several treasures of urban infrastructure along the trail.
This hike will meander along open and wooded trails. There are sections of the trails which are narrow and steep, or require navigating fallen logs or small rock ledges. Hiking poles are recommended but not required for most folks. Although it is in the City, we will generally be away from traffic. In late August, it will likely be hot and dry, so bring plenty of water.
