Walk & Learn: Healthy Aging (Riverview Park)
November 21, 2024 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
FreeWalk & Learn: Healthy Aging (Riverview Park)
This month’s hike is a collaboration between Walk & Learn PT Anne and Public Transit Series volunteer Bill. We are turning it up a notch this month with an intermediate hike in Riverview Park. The park features the Allegheny Observatory, which is near the start/end of this loop and can be viewed from the outside, as well as several treasures along the trail such as the ruins of the Watson Cabin.
This hike will meander along wooded trails where there are many types of birds as well as deer and other wildlife. There are sections of the trails which are narrow and steep, or require navigating fallen logs or small rock ledges. Hiking poles are recommended but not required. This series of hikes was designed for folks age 50+ who are currently active and can comfortably walk 3 miles over varied terrain.
The health theme this month is “Exercising in the Cold.” We will update soon!
Trip Leader: Anne W is a career Physical therapist and longtime volunteer with Venture Outdoors. She works to create some conversation-starter info every month, which is distributed prior to each hike. That way you can come ready with your questions on the monthly topic.
