Join us for a pleasant cycling experience on the Montour Trail, a beautiful rail trail segment in western Pennsylvania, located south of Pittsburgh. This well-maintained pathway offers a smooth asphalt surface, ensuring a comfortable ride through picturesque landscapes.

During this event, we’ll enjoy a leisurely pedal covering about 10 miles, creating a relaxed out and back route. The trail will lead us through serene wooded areas and a charming section along Piney Fork Creek.

The Montour Trail is an impressive multi-use, non-motorized recreational pathway, recognized as the longest suburban rail-trail in the country, with approximately 47 miles on its main line. Branch routes extend the total length to over 60 miles. This privately owned and operated trail provides a unique opportunity to explore the beauty of the Pittsburgh area while enjoying the convenience of a dedicated cycling route.

Our chosen section of the trail will take us between Peters Township Park and South Park, providing approximately 10 miles of cycling pleasure. Throughout the journey, we can expect a gentle 400 ft elevation gain, offering a slightly downhill ride on our return.
