1. Briefly tell us about your background: where did you grow up, where did you go to school, or what brought you to Venture Outdoors?
I grew up in Pittsburgh and got a bachelor’s degree in sustainability from Chatham University in Pittsburgh. Later, I was looking for an outdoors focused job that also would build my leadership skills, and encourage others to enjoy the outdoors. I attended VO activities while in high school and decided to check VO when I was job searching once I moved back to Pittsburgh a few years later.
2. Describe your role at Venture Outdoors in 10 words or less.
Coordinating activities to ensure they go safely and smoothly.
3. If you had to pick only one recreational activity to practice for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Probably biking. I love biking, and it is a fun way to get around.
4. What are your top five favorite outdoors/travel destinations?
Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Ohio Pyle, The GAP trail, Schenley Park, North Park
5. What is your favorite forest/camping snack?
Fruit snacks
6. Name three people in history (dead or alive) with whom you would want to take on a Venture Outdoors program of your choice.
Majora Carter, Rachel Carson, David Attenborough
7. What is the earliest memory you have of being outside?
Playing outside at my family’s place as kid, and being in scouts and going camping.
8. Any hidden talents?
Besides being able to hyperextend my elbows, I am good at crocheting!
9. What is your favorite song (or album) right now?
I Don’t Want to Live Like This Anymore by James Marriott, and Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan
10. What is your biggest challenge nowadays?
Sometimes just being in the moment and not trying to get everything done at once.
