Beginner Kayaking Class

Anyone can paddle with a quick tutorial, but if you’re looking to paddle with efficiency, grace, and direction join our Beginner Kayak Course.

Meet at the Allegheny Traditional Academy Pool for an introduction to kayaking with our safety-certified kayak instructors. Learn about your boat, basic equipment, then get on the water to practice steering, and maneuvers. Learn to kayak forwards, backwards, and even sideways.

No experience required!

This class will also include a presentation from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. “A Paddler’s Guide to Safety” has been prepared by the USCGA to educate boaters about all aspects of paddling safety, including situational awareness and the need to practice skills.
