River Dog Paddle

Join us to paddle on the Allegheny River with your dog! Meet other paddlers and pets as we kayak on the river with our canine friends! 

Trip Leaders: Our trained Excursionists and Volunteer Trip Leaders will guide the group safely on the river. 

Activity level: Beginner (some paddling experience with your dog recommended): This is a slow paced trip on the Allegheny River around Sharpsburg. We’ll cover basic instructions on land and then head on the water. If you’re uncomfortable paddling on the river, check out our events at North Park or our Beginner River Paddles this summer!

What to Bring: While no one plans to tip a boat kayaking is considered a “get wet” sport. You might get dripped on or splashed occasionally. It is best to wear clothes that dry quickly. Wear comfortable shoes that could potentially get wet. We strongly encourage participants to bring their own dog PFD to ensure to right fit, if you have one! We have a limited amount available for use but we cannot guarantee we’ll have one to fit your dog specifically.

Distance: Paddlers can expect to cover roughly 1.5 to 2.0 miles on the water

Starting Location: This event will be launched from out Sharpsburg location at the end of the James Sharp Landing parking lot. Participants can park in the lot. If it is full, street parking on Main Street can be utilized. The Google Maps link is below: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jv7VokjHcAgMnf2E7

Ticket Sales Close: Ticket sales will close 24 hours prior to the event.

Please purchase one ticket PER PERSON. If you and your dog would fit better in a tandem kayak, that can be accommodated. Let the trip leaders know upon arrival!

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to ensure that the trip gets underway on time. Dress for the weather (Venture Outdoors trips proceed rain or shine!), bring water and wear comfortable closed toe shoes. By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge that you are physically able to undertake the activity described above.
