Sheepskin Railtrail Covered Bridge Hike
July 20, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
$15.00Sheepskin Railtrail Covered Bridge Hike
Join Trip Leader, Sheri Dutter, for a leisurely walk along the Sheepskin Rail-Trail. This developing pathway is nestled in rural Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and spans 34 miles once completed, linking the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) to the Mon River Trail.
We’ll enjoy an easy-paced, 4-mile journey along this well-maintained, flat, and paved trail, with several pauses to appreciate the beauty of Redstone Creek and Lick Run, which meander alongside the path. Our route includes a stop at the picturesque covered bridge in Hutchinson Park, a charming highlight of the South Union Township segment of the Sheepskin Trail. This bridge’s rustic wooden facade incorporates repurposed elements from a highway pedestrian bridge.
Difficulty Level: Level 2 – Easy
Distance: 4 miles
Starting Location: South Union Recreation Center (147 Township Dr. Uniontown, PA)
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to ensure that the trip gets underway on time.
