Kayaks Pittsburgh leaves home under the bridge

All good things must come to an end, and as of October 2021, Venture Outdoors has to say “anchors aweigh” and leave our Kayak Pittsburgh Downtown location on the North Shore.

A construction project set to refurbish the Roberto Clemente Bridge has been on the horizon since 2019. Due to delays brought on by COVID-19 the date was pushed back multiple times. This meant we could squeeze one extra season in at the location this past year.

But alas, now is the time, as construction begins, we’re forced to vacate our home under the bridge.

Since 2004, our Downtown location has provided countless outdoor recreational opportunities to people from all around the Pittsburgh region and around the world. Whether people were taking in some lunchtime fishing with Tri-Anglers, renting a kayak to explore the three rivers, or heading on the water with Venture Outdoors trip leaders to catch the post-Pirates game fireworks show, the experience was always a splash!

We’re sad to leave, but when one door closes, another opens…. or many more. 😉

This year, the Venture Outdoors and Kayak Pittsburgh crew will head into some uncharted waters as we look for a new spot. We have some exciting possibilities and can’t wait to share the next steps with you all.

Make sure to follow us on social or sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know about NEW Kayak Pittsburgh locations opening soon.

And don’t worry…our North Park location will still be open for rentals and programs all summer long. See you for a summer of smooth sailing and smiles in 2022!
