1. Briefly tell us about your background: where did you grow up, where did you go to school, or what brought you to Venture Outdoors?

I’m from Cincinnati, OH where my love for the outdoors was born and bloomed. I went to Kent State University for Theatre and Public Relations which provided a ton of amazing experiences that sparked my curiosity, expanded my worldview, and gave me opportunities to work with a variety of non-profits. I knew that the non-profit space was where my people were and where my heart lied, so I took a job at a performing arts non-profit here in Pittsburgh and have been loving this city and the community here ever since. I first became involved with Venture Outdoors as a volunteer last summer and quickly realized what an important role they were playing in Pittsburgh and doing it with such intention and integrity. They are the perfect intersection of so many things I’m passionate about – the outdoors, non-profits, accessibility, community building and partnership, the list could go on. I am just THRILLED to have the opportunity to be a part of it.

2. Describe your role at Venture Outdoors in 10 words or less.

I facilitate group outdoor experiences and build meaningful partnerships.

3. If you had to pick only one recreational activity to practice for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Camping – it reminds me to live simply and there is nothing quite like waking up to birds chirping and crisp morning air.

4. What are your top five favorite outdoors/travel destinations?

Yosemite, Greece, ALL of Utah, Blue Ridge Parkway, El Yunque National Forest

5. What is your favorite forest/camping snack?

Rainbow Goldfish Crackers

6. Name three people in history (dead or alive) with whom you would want to take on a Venture Outdoors program of your choice.

I would want to take Maya Angelou, Cher, and Pedro Pascal. I think they all would create a really unique group dynamic. If I could add a 4th it’d be my grandma (Mamaw).

7. What is the earliest memory you have of being outside?

Taking long walks with my mom at a park close to my childhood home and always ending at the pond behind our house to watch the ducks, geese, and cranes.

8. Any hidden talents?

I competitively Irish Danced for years, I can do special effects makeup, and I consider myself an amateur floral arranger!

9. What is your favorite song (or album) right now?

I’m currently loving the album “Drop Cherries” by Billie Marten.

10. What is your biggest challenge nowadays?

Setting boundaries, staying present and grounded in a really hectic world, and reminding myself to be as gentle with myself as I aim to be with others.
