22 in ‘22 Guided Trail Ride: Stavich Bike Trail
September 11, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$10.0022 in ‘22 Guided Trail Rides
There are approximately 22 scenic, car-free, bike paths in the region. Let’s explore them all together! Bike every trail and fill out your passport along the way. Each trail is less than a 2-hour drive from Pittsburgh and we’ll bike between 10 – 24 miles. Best of all, each ride includes a discussion of the landscape and history by Earth Science Excursions, LLC geologist Fred Zelt.
Want to explore further? Check out the Wilds Weekends, where we’ll bike into the Pennsylvania Wilds.
Trip #22: Stavich Bike Trail
We have saved a special experience for the final 22 in ’22 cycling excursion: pedaling 20 scenic miles at a leisurely pace from Pennsylvania into Ohio on the paved Stavich Bike Trail! Unusual for a rail trail, this was the path of a streetcar line that connected New Castle with Youngstown. If you want to cycle a shorter route by heading back before the turnaround, this trip is designed to accommodate you!
Kids, pets in carriers and e-bikes are very welcome.
Bicycle helmets are required. The week before the excursion we will send those who have registered an email with more information about the path we will be cycling, what to bring and exactly when and where to meet at the start. If you want to rent a bike, we can recommend a bike rental and help transport up to three bikes. This trip is offered in partnership with Earth Science Excursions, LLC.
