22 in ‘22 Guided Trail Ride: Wheeling
September 4, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$10.0022 in ‘22 Guided Trail Rides
There are approximately 22 scenic, car-free, bike paths in the region. Let’s explore them all together! Bike every trail and fill out your passport along the way. Each trail is less than a 2-hour drive from Pittsburgh and we’ll bike between 10 – 24 miles. Best of all, each ride includes a discussion of the landscape and history by Earth Science Excursions, LLC geologist Fred Zelt.
Want to explore further? Check out the Wilds Weekends, where we’ll bike into the Pennsylvania Wilds.
Trip #20: Wheeling Heritage, Brooke Pioneer and Wellsburg Yankee Trails
Explore this series of very nice trails along the Ohio River in nearby West Virginia! We will cycle 22 miles at a leisurely pace, stopping to view scenic and historic sites including leaving the trail to see the amazing 1849 Wheeling Suspension Bridge. If you want to cycle a shorter route by heading back before the turnaround or continue beyond the group turnaround for a longer pedal, this trip is designed to accommodate you!
Kids, pets in carriers and e-bikes are welcome. Before or after the excursion, we recommend experiencing the distinctive crunchy crust of Ohio Valley-style pizza at DiCarlo’s Famous Pizza in downtown Wheeling! 🍕
Bicycle helmets are required. The week before the excursion we will send those who have registered an email with more information about the path we will be cycling, what to bring and exactly when and where to meet at the start. If you want to rent a bike, we can recommend a bike rental and help transport up to three bikes. This trip is offered in partnership with Earth Science Excursions, LLC.
