Laura Zurowski is a technical writer at the University of Pittsburgh. Since 2017, she has published Mis.Steps: Our
Missed Connections with Pittsburgh’s City Steps, a public space documentation project of Pittsburgh’s public
stairways. Laura graduated from Emerson College, where she studied marketing and communication, and Harvard
University’s Graduate School of Education, where she received a Master’s in Education, Planning, and Social Policy.
Matthew Jacob works for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority managing its asset management software
system. He worked for the City of Pittsburgh from 2014 to 2022, inventorying and mapping thousands of city assets
such as steps, retaining walls, trails, buildings, bridges, and more. Matthew holds a degree in history from Temple
University and a Master’s in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Charles Succop has worked in the City of Pittsburgh Archives since 2017 and is the local historian behind the
popular @pghthenandnow Instagram account. He graduated from Appalachian State University, where he studied
community and regional planning and geography, and the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a Master of
Library and Information Science.
