EveryBody Outdoors Series: You Belong Here
People of every size, shape, and weight deserve the chance to experience the amazing benefits of time spent outdoors with others. Venture Outdoors welcomes active folks in larger bodies to get outside this year through its series of size-friendly outings, at a pace that is safe and comfortable for each person. Each trip listing will give you the information you need to decide if the outing is right for you: active time and pace, general route and terrain, and if any experience is needed. You can look forward to a variety of monthly activities throughout the year, all in a positive and welcoming atmosphere in which we will celebrate all shapes and sizes. Join us for one outing, join us for all. This is where you belong.
Cycling the South Side
Beginning in The Color Park, we will bike along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and then cross the Hot Metal Bridge as well as the Smithfield Street Bridge.
This moderate-pace ride will be on combined paved and gravel surfaces at an approximate 7-10-mile pace. Expect active cycling time of approximately 90 minutes. Mileage and route may decrease (or increase!) depending on participants’ needs, and no person will be left behind. We will be cross some bridges, including some with switchbacks, as well as riding along streets with cars and traffic lights. If you have yet to cycle the city roads, within a group is a great place to get some practice.
A bike and helmet are required for the outing.
Starting Location: South Side Color Park (1 S 6th St, Pittsburgh, PA 15203)
Distance: 7-10 mi
Activity Level: Level 2-3 Easy/Moderate
If cost is a barrier to your participation or you need to borrow a helmet, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. POGOH Bike rentals are available at the starting location.

Dress for the weather (Venture Outdoors trips proceed rain or shine!), bring water and wear comfortable closed toe shoes.
