EveryBody Outdoors: Harmony Trail Winter Hike

February 17 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

EveryBody Outdoors Series: You Belong Here

People of every size, shape, and weight deserve the chance to experience the amazing benefits of time spent outdoors with others. Venture Outdoors welcomes active folks in larger bodies to get outside this year through its series of size-friendly outings, at a pace that is safe and comfortable for each person. Each trip listing will give you the information you need to decide if the outing is right for you: active time and pace, general route and terrain, and if any experience is needed. You can look forward to a variety of monthly activities throughout the year, all in a positive and welcoming atmosphere in which we will celebrate all shapes and sizes. Join us for one outing, join us for all. This is where you belong

Harmony Trail Winter Hike

Harmony Trail is a hidden gem of a trail north of Pittsburgh, with a connection to the larger Rachel Carson Trail. Let us introduce you to this lovely area as we spend a winter morning on a 2-mile out-and-back hike on this wide, well-maintained flat trail of crushed limestone. This trail is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, and other wheeled mobility devices.

Check the weather and dress appropriately for the day.  Hiking poles are not necessary but may be helpful based on the morning’s weather conditions. Sturdy hiking shoes or boots are encouraged, as is water to keep hydrated. You can expect an active time of about 60-90 minutes, dependent on the trail condition as well as group speed and needs.

Difficulty Level: Level 1 – Relaxed
Distance: 2 miles
Starting Location: Harmony Trailhead Parking near the intersection of Wexford Bayne Rd and Brennan Rd (40.622805, -80.063640)

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to ensure that the trip gets underway on time. Dress for the weather (Venture Outdoors trips proceed rain or shine!), bring water and wear comfortable closed toe shoes. By reserving a ticket, you acknowledge that you are physically able to undertake the activity described above
