November 18, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
$20.00Lewis and Clark History Hike
Twenty years ago, an epic, historical reenactment began in Western Pennsylvania when a non-profit organization from the state of Missouri set out to recreate the entire Lewis and Clark Expedition in real time with accurately recreated boats, historic campsites and period clothing. Fast forward to the spring of 2019 when Pittsburgh became the official trailhead of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail (LCNHT) providing a tremendous opportunity for our region and cementing South Western Pennsylvania as an integral part of this important chapter of American history.
Join reenactor and community advocate, John McNulty, who participated in the bicentennial expedition and was involved with helping the National Park Service extend the LCNHT to the Pittsburgh region as we learn about this dynamic yet often overlooked part of our local history. We will hike through some of Pittsburgh’s most diverse, scenic and mountainous terrain, utilizing the Emerald View Park trail system on Mt. Washington and using the charming West End library as our meeting place.
Distance: 4 miles with some steep hills
