Notable Near Misses of Pittsburgh’s Past – An Accidental History Guided Hike

Join us on a  walking excursion on Pittsburgh riverfront trails, sidewalks and bridges to scenic overlooks. Hear about six times from the 1750’s to 1970’s when nobody got hurt in spite of unique combinations of stupidity, luck and malice. We will walk about 5 miles on fairly flat riverfront trails with ramps to and from two bridge sidewalks that are part of our route. The excursion cost covers our fares on the Duquesne Incline to vistas overlooking sites of significant “Oops” moments in Pittsburgh history. We will walk about half a mile on the scenic Grandview Avenue sidewalk at the top of the Incline.

Crossing bridges on sidewalks high above the Monongahela River is part of the excursion, which may not be appropriate for people who are especially sensitive to heights.
