Spring Equinox Tree Exploration

Honor two powerhouses of the environmental movement: Wangari Maathai and Rachel Carson, both who have their roots in Pittsburgh! With Master Naturalist, Gabrielle Rovegno, we’ll welcome spring with a walk around the Wangari Maathai garden located on the grounds of the Cathedral of Learning.

We’ll discuss the legacy of Nobel Peace Prize winner, Pitt alum and environmentalist Wangari Maathai as we also cover the principles of tree ID. Learn about year-round tree ID features as trees are beginning to wake up and are beginning to flower and leaf out! The tree tour will focus on urban hardy trees we see throughout Pittsburgh’s urban forest.
