Foraged Flavor Walk: Serviceberries

Join Venture Outdoors staff member, Alyssa Crawford on a short walk around the North Shore for an urban foraging tour focusing on serviceberries. This native tree is commonly used in landscaping and boasts delicious fruit! These sweet fruits are about the size of a blueberry and taste like a combination of berries with a hint of almond.

Participants will discuss some ethics and concerns around urban foraging, learn how to identify and gather serviceberries and learn how to identify other common trees along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. Bring a container for your harvest! Serviceberries are great to eat right off the tree, but can also be used for baking, smoothies, or jellies.

Starting Location: Langley Observatory Clock on the North Shore
Terrain: Paved and flat
Distance: 1.5-2 miles
Activity Level: Level 1 Relaxed

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to ensure that the trip gets underway on time. Dress for the weather (Venture Outdoors trips proceed rain or shine!), bring water and wear comfortable closed toe shoes. By reserving a ticket, you acknowledge that you are physically able to undertake the activity described above.
