Golden Hour Meadow Hike
Join us for the Golden Hour Meadow Hike at Hillman State Park, a sprawling 3,600-acre natural haven nestled in Hanover Township, just 25 miles west of Pittsburgh. Fondly known among mountain biking enthusiasts as “Bavington.”
Founded in the late 1960s, Hillman State Park has been entrusted to the Pennsylvania Game Commission for hunting purposes since the early 1980s. A portion of the park has been designated as Pennsylvania State Game Lands 117, preserving the area’s diverse wildlife.
Nature enthusiasts of all kinds, including mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, cross-country skiers, and equestrians, congregate at Bavington to recreate through its extensive network of nearly 30 miles of trails. These trails are maintained year-round by dedicated Trail Pittsburgh stewards and volunteers.
As you partake in this guided hike through Hillman State Park’s woodlands and meadows, you’ll have the opportunity to witness beauty of the sun as it graces the horizon during the golden hour of sunset.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to ensure that the trip gets underway on time. Dress for the weather (Venture Outdoors trips proceed rain or shine!), bring water and wear comfortable closed toe shoes. By reserving a ticket, you acknowledge that you are physically able to undertake the activity described above.
